Applying for a grant

The Savings Banks Research Foundation annually awards grants for research on the money market and savings. The application period is in October.

The average grant is 5,000 euros. For research groups, the grants range from 5,000 to 10,000 euros.

What kind of research can you get a grant for?

We award grants annually for research in economic, social and legal matters, for example. We award grants for the actual research work, primarily for doctoral theses and postdoctoral research. The aim is to award grants for completing research work that has already received support.

The grants are not awarded for

  • trips to conferences and seminars
  • completing basic degrees in Finland or abroad
  • printing research
  • equipment purchases
  • hiring support staff

How to apply for a grant

The grants are awarded annually. Applications are accepted during the month of October. The Board of the Foundation reviews the proposals and decides on the grants by the beginning of December.

Appendices to the application

Applications must be submitted with a research plan that includes

  • the estimated time of completion
  • a statement from the supervising professor. The statement is not required for post-doctoral research or corresponding research by a research team.

The recommended length of the research plan is no more than four sheets.

We also recommend that applicants provide information on their personal profile and achievements in the form of a CV.
