    The Savings Banks Research Foundation supports science and research by awarding grants annually. The application period for grants is in October.

The Savings Banks Research Foundation supports research and publications in economics, social sciences and law related to saving, capital markets and savings banking by awarding annual grants and research funding.

The application period for the grants is annually in October. The grants awarded will range from 2,000 to 10,000 euros. A typical grant has been 5,000 euros.

The Savings Banks Research Foundation also preserves the history of savings bank operations, for example, by maintaining the Savings Bank Museum, which operates in conjunction with the Hämeenlinna City Museum.

Grant Application Round 2026

The 2026 grant application round places special emphasis on research and projects related to people’s financial well-being, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

Grants may be applied for by postgraduate students who have completed their basic university studies, as well as researchers, for purposes such as a licentiate thesis, doctoral dissertation, postdoctoral research project, or book project.

The application period is 1–31 October 2026. Decisions on grant awards will be made in early December, after which applicants will be notified of the results. Detailed application instructions and the application form are available on the Applying for a Grant page.
